Used Skate and Dress Sale is Coming Up Saturday October 21 at JC

Dig out those dresses, find those skates that don’t fit and bring them down to Jimmie Condon for the sale.

• Drop off items for sale in the Coaches’ Room at Jimmie Condon by Oct 18;
• Items can be good quality athletic wear such as Ivivva and Lululemon,
• All items must be clean, labeled, with skates tied together and dresses on hangers
• Safety pin a piece of paper inserted in a small Ziploc on each sale item indicating your full name, contact info, size, description of item and selling price;
• Unsold items can be collected up until October 31 – items not picked up will be donated to charity on November 1;
• Calalta receives 20% of all sales

Volunteer Opportunities

Have you sent your volunteer cheque in yet? Please ensure you drop off your cheque in the Calalta mailbox (or give to Diana at COP)! If you volunteer your 12 hours (16 hours if you have more than 1 skater) we will shred the cheque at the end of the year.  Cheques payable to Calalta FSC, dated June 1, 2018 for $600.00

Music CDs, Playlists and a Device Needed

We need new music at Jimmie Condon! If anyone is interested in making 10 new CDs that has the current top 40 hits on it, please send us an email.  Or if anyone has a device they are willing to donate to the club that has playlists on them – even better!  Either way send us an email!

Planned Program Sheets: We have been asked by Officials to remind our competitive skaters that Planned Program Sheets are required to be submitted at the beginning of the season (Wildrose) and not again until something changes on the PP sheet.  What a great time saver!!

Lockers at JC:  If your child needs a locker at JC, we have them and they can be rented for the skating season through Uplifter under Products and Subscriptions. Great place to keep stinky skates!

Registration

All sessions start Tuesday September 5 and go to June 24, 2018 (June 22 at COP)

Both Jimmie Condon (JCA) and Canada Olympic Park (COP) registration is now open and can be accessed here https://calalta.uplifterinc.com/

• Book 6 or more sessions per week (any combination of on or off-ice sessions) before September 1 (12:00 am – that’s midnight August 31) and receive a 20% discount!
• Book 6 or more sessions per week (any combination of on or off-ice sessions) between September 1-30 (12:00 am – that’s midnight September 30) and receive a 10% discount!

Sorry no discounts after September 30th

Don’t forget to book all of your sessions at once to ensure you qualify for the discounts!

Volunteer Opportunities

Teamwear for Calalta Skaters   Volunteer in Charge will determine how many other volunteers are required and will delegate tasks to them as required.   This role starts in September. Contact the office at [email protected]

Volunteer in Charge (VIC) With assistance from the office, work with the vendor, make arrangements to pick up sample clothing, organize ‘sizing days’ at both COP and JC so skaters can try on and order the team wear, return the product to vendor; Place order, follow up with vendor as necessary, pick up team wear when ready and prepare for distribution to the skater/parent when ready; Provide direction to other volunteers as necessary Qualifications Leadership – provide direction and delegate to other volunteers, follow up with them as necessary, step up if they don’t follow through; Communication – Proficient at writing and responding to emails, explaining tasks to others, working with other volunteers, parents and the staff at Calalta; Strong interpersonal skills – polite, professional, respectful

It’s going to be a fabulous year!

The season starts Tuesday September 5 and runs to June 24, 2018.

Both Jimmie Condon (JCA) and COP registration is now open.

COP 2017-2018 Schedule

You will need to submit your volunteer deposit of $600.00 dated June 1, 2018 to complete your registration. Please drop your cheque off in the silver mailbox at the bottom of the stairs at JC. Volunteer opportunities will be emailed as they become available and yes there are lots of opportunities each year.

Registration is at https://calalta.uplifterinc.com/ – please have your credit card ready!

Both GST and membership fees are due at the time of registration, sessions can be paid all at once or prorated over 8 months from September 1^st to April 1^st. Please make sure you click the ‘pay in installments’ when you are checking out!

All sessions have been prorated to accommodate the following stat holidays.

A few details for summer registration at Calalta:

1. Summer starts on Monday July 3 and will go for seven weeks. Ice dance will be on a slightly different schedule which will be shared by the Ice Dance coaching team;
2. We can only do weekly packages – not daily;
3. Calalta reserves the right to move skaters to balance out the sessions (based on the number of kids and the skill level) for Competitive 1 and Competitive 2 packages.  It is advised that you speak to your coach PRIOR to registering online!
4. Freeskate sessions and stroking a must be booked by the week – not the day;
5. All registration must go through Calalta’s Uplifter system at https://calalta.uplifterinc.com/
6. Upon registration, you will need to pay the GST for the sessions you have booked. On June 1, you will be required to pay the remainder of your invoice via your credit card;
7. Medical refunds are available. Please ensure you have a doctor’s note and a week’s absence prior to contacting the office – this makes it easier and quicker for the office to process the refund;
