2023-2024 Fundraising Plan

Calalta Figure Skating Club is excited to announce our fundraising plan for the 2023-2024 skating season. As a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality figure skating programs to our community, fundraising plays a crucial role in sustaining our operations. With a fundraising target of $10,000, we rely on the support of our dedicated volunteers and the generosity of our community.

Fundraising Objectives

  1. Raise $10,000 to support the club’s activities, including seminars and events.
  2. Engage our members and community in fundraising efforts to foster a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.
  3. Recognize and appreciate the invaluable contributions of our volunteers.

Events and Activities

  1. Apples, Purdys’ Chocolates, 50/50 Raffle, Flowers and Fill the Freezer Events (Goal: $10,000)
  • Kicking off in September, selling apples through our partnership with Davison Orchards of Vernon BC
  • Just in time for Christmas, Purdys’ chocolates are a HUGE hit especially for stocking stuffers for coaches and teachers.
  • 50/50 draw will be available in February with the winner selected on Feb 11 at our CWI competition.
  • What’s Mother’s Day without the beautiful flowers, tomatoes, and herbs from Evergreen Greenhouses
  • And of course, in June with Fill the Freezer just in time for Father’s Day and BBQing

Earn volunteer hours by selling products for the events above (does not include the 50/50 event). For every $100 sold in each event earn 2 hours towards your volunteer commitment.

Don’t forget – 12 hours volunteer requirement for 1 skater, 16 hours volunteer requirement for more than 1 skater in the family.  Also, there will be PLENTY of opportunities to volunteer your time at various events including the Calgary Winter Invitational held Feb 9-11 at JC, our Casino on March 3 and 4, Ice Carnival held in May, Assessment Days, Star 1-3 events and lots more! We will email all volunteer opportunities to our members as they come up.

  1. Sponsorship and Community Partnerships
  • Seek sponsorships from local businesses, offering advertising opportunities in return. We offer sponsorship packages ranging from Friends of Calalta ($100) to our platinum sponsors who donate $1000. Donations can include product baskets and/or gift cards and will considered by retail value for the levels noted.
  • New this year! For all sponsorship dollars you collect over $1000, 25% of the sponsorship dollars will be credited back to your account. Speak with your employer or a business you know to see if they would be interested. If so, please download the sponsorship letter at the bottom of this page.
  1. Giving Back to the Community
  • Provide opportunities to give back to the local Foodbank by collecting donations at each of our events.
  • Adopt a family for the holiday season that requires a hand up and provide toys and other items so they too can enjoy a wonderful holiday.

Promotion and Communication

  • Maintain an active presence on social media platforms, posting updates about fundraising initiatives, sharing success stories, and expressing gratitude.
  • Send regular email newsletters to members and supporters with fundraising progress and event details.
  • Leverage the club’s website to provide detailed information about fundraising goals, events, and how to get involved.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Actively involve volunteers in planning and executing fundraising events.
  • Provide training and resources to help volunteers effectively contribute to fundraising efforts.
  • Recognize and celebrate the achievements of our volunteers through social media, awards, and public acknowledgments.

Progress Tracking

  • Regularly update a fundraising thermometer on the club’s website and in the rink to show progress toward the $10,000 goal.
  • Share updates on how funds are being used to benefit the club and its members.

By implementing this comprehensive fundraising plan, Calalta Figure Skating Club aims to meet its goals for the 2023-2024 season while fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the valuable contributions of our volunteers. Together, we can ensure that our skaters continue to thrive and excel in the sport they love.

Happy Skating everyone!
